Mari began playing music at age 4, studying piano with Myla Kato-DuVally (video link) and drums with Marc Slutsky (Peter Murphy, Adam Ant). She also studies percussion/drums with Kristen Gleeson-Prata and classical music with Andrew Funcheon.
Mari Rey met her future bandmate Autumn Reign at a grade school talent show in Burbank, CA. That summer, they started a band “Plain American Girls” so they could play songs by legendary singer & songwriter Barbara Keith and The Stone Coyotes.
Mari Rey plays Yamaha drums with Ludwig snares and Zildjian cymbals.
